Will Finch & Nami Hamada (et al.)
CB Fisk , Pipe Organs
Gloucester, MA
Physicist and organ maker Charles B. Fisk founded his firm in Gloucester in 1961 to build pipe organs with mechanical action, as they were built in the time of J. S. Bach. Fisk organs typically contain thousands of pipes, most made from lead/tin alloys cast into sheets in the company's workshop. The firm creates enormous custom instruments for installation across the United States and abroad.
Will Finch is a pipe maker who cuts the metal into the proper shape, rolls it into cylinders, and solders it together to form the pipes. Voicers, like Nami Hamada, listen closely to each one and then minutely adjust the pipe mouth to give the pipes the correct musical qualities.
