Our crew has arrived in Nashville. Andrew, our project manager and Jonas flew in a few days early to set a centerline and prepare the new sanctuary at Covenant Presbyterian Church for Opus 134. The rest of the crew: Colin, Emily, Jason, Josh and myself, Dana arrived on Saturday to help with the unloading of 3 trucks after services on Sunday. A big turnout and heroic effort by the congregation made it possible to unload 70,000 lbs. of pipe organ and equipment in about 6 hours. Thanks so much for all your effort.
We began our work Monday with the set up of our shop and the positioning of the first of 11 steel posts that will support the organ. Haskel pipes and 32’ reed resonators were racked while it was still possible to get them in the organ. Once supports along the back wall were placed work on the steel structure has proceeded rapidly. Windchests, wind trunks, and the Positive expression box all were added as each level of the organ went up.
Our workday begins at 7:00 am. and ends about the same hour in the evening. Still we found the time to sample some great country music and life altering fried chicken. One of our waiters offered a paramedic team to help us get through an excellent and enormous dinner. Stand by… we will certainly need them.
