Week 2 installation
Pound for pound we’ve had a very productive first week. Structural steel, all of the wind chests and much of the wind system are in. Time for a little R&R... Saturday night after work we went out for dinner then music at Roberts Western World. The evening was fueled by equal parts honky-tonk and exhaustion. Sunday arrived on schedule (maybe a little early) but just in time for a chance to relax, do laundry and see a little of Nashville in the daylight.

The work week began by adding more wind system components: Jason installed the “Z” duct up from the blower room and the main plenum to the wedge bellows at the Great level. Ladders and walk boards were installed in the Swell at the top of the organ. Key action components were put in place and additional steel attachment points were added to support the red oak case. Four heavy steel “T” brackets were bolted to the front posts to carry the massive impost, which forms the base of the 3 large pipe towers and expands the upper case to the organ’s full width. The impost is in 2 sections that stack one over the other. The top section (about 800 lbs.) was lifted into place and secured on Wednesday afternoon. The rest of the week we set the upper case posts and panels starting from the center and working our way around, first to the ## side, then to the CC side. Our progress was governed by insightful advice imparted by an able and knowing waitress regarding desert: “Just say sure!”. By Saturday most of the upper case was complete and we said goodbye to Colin. He is off for a visit with family before returning to Korea.

Thanks to all who have stopped by the sanctuary with questions and encouragement. Your hospitality (and home cooking) have made us feel very welcome. We are bigger and better people for it.
